My doula was very prepared! She brought a bag of supplies and included back up supplies. She was very helpful in reminding me to drink water and use the restroom. Teeya is an amazing doula and I cannot recommend her enough. She helped prepare us for the birth while I was pregnant sharing evidence based knowledge. She is great on communication and very present. She will ask questions to make sure you’re comfortable and be your advocate when you are afraid. With all the emotions I was experiencing postpartum she came to visit and was like family reminding me to take it easy. Lending her ear and heart, Teeya is a great doula. She will make a wonderful addition to your support team.

Once I realized I was going to have a scheduled c-section, I wasn't sure how helpful a birth doula could be. However, Teeya educated us on what to expect from the beginning to the end and she helped us create a birth plan for our c-section which was extremely helpful and useful for my healthcare team day of. Teeya is amazing. She is meant to be a birth doula. She really cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to meet their needs. I felt so supported during my pregnancy and birth by Teeya. She has a wonderful energy to be around that is very calming and reassuring. She also has the unique talent of being a "warm demander" and was a great advocate for me during the birthing process. "Teeya was incredible as a support person, doula, advocate and friend to my partner and I during the last stage of pregnancy and the birth + delivery! I had a 'dream' of how I imagined my labor and delivery going, she helped provide us tools for what that could look like, and in reality, my birth had a lot of unplanned changes and complications and she quickly adapted to still have the birth be a special and connecting time for my husband and I and our sweet baby girl. I'm so thankful for having Teeya on my birthing team! She was really incredible throughout the entire process. 
Teeya was always very reliable - she was very well organized, she always came on time, and didn't mind staying longer if there were things to discuss. She also suggested to support us during the inversion procedure (the baby was breech) which was really helpfuland gave us a 
good taste of what the birthing experience might look like, which made us feel much more confident.
Teeya was also very respectful and a great listener. I really appreciated that she normalized a lot of situations which would feel shameful during birth (such as pooping). She also connected well with my partner and they both did a great job together during birth. 
She was really resilient and present during labor. She was with me the entire time and we had a great connection. I trusted her when there were times a decision had to be made and her reassurance was very helpful when things got confusing.
She also brought a lot of useful props that allowed me to have an unmedicated birth- tens unit, peppermint bag, ceiling lights.
The postpartum visits were also really valuable - we were able to spend time to talk about the baby care, but also talk about how we felt about the birth. Processing that event with Teeya was like a therapy session and after doing that I felt like I was able to come to terms 
with it and find my own way to interpret what happened. 
Overall she was a great support for our family and I can't imagine this experience without her!

"We didn't know what a postpartum doula was when we had our first baby, and I found myself often becoming very anxious and low in those early weeks, even with a very supportive partner. Having Teeya there for us right as we brought our second baby home from the hospital made a world of difference. Teeya made my physical and emotional well-being top priority. Asking for help is not my strong suit, but Teeya was so attuned to me and always knew what to do. Whether that was taking care of the baby so I could rest, making sure I was fed, playing with our older child so my husband and I could bond with the baby together, or doing the dishes, I was so relieved and grateful she was there. She saw me in postpartum diapers, feeling like a total mess, but her warm, non-judgmental presence kept me afloat. I couldn't recommend her more."

If she didn't know an answer to a question we had, she was quick to send us evidence based information. When my husband and I found out we were expecting, we weighed whether or not to hire a doula because of the cost. Ultimately, we decided to work with one because of the strong evidence that doulas help reduce experiences of trauma around birth. I knew that whatever kind of birth I'd end up having (spontaneous, induction, c-section, etc) that I wanted to feel like I had been informed and in control of the events that unfolded, and that I wanted to leave my birth/labor feeling positive about the experience. We interviewed 4 GGDA doulas and ended up choosing Teeya, who we cannot recommend strongly enough!!! I loved her energy, and felt very safe and comfortable with Teeya throughout the entire experience. My pregnancy was largely uncomplicated, though we had a diagnosis of gestational hypertension at 37 weeks. Teeya helped us navigate that news and taught us what we could expect from an induction. Ultimately, we ended up having a spontaneous birth, and Teeya was incredible during labor, helping me find my rhythm, introducing different positions and tools to manage the pain, etc. Teeya doesn't bring her own opinions or biases to the pregnancy process, she is there is support you and your partner and baby in whatever ways work best for you. For us, that was helping me get set up with an epidural when the timing was right, and coaching me around advocating for myself, using various pushing positions, and so much more. I had an incredibly positive birth - beyond my wildest dreams! - and I feel like Teeya truly helped make that happen.

Teeya was not who we originally worked with, but when our Doula fell ill at the last minute, she stepped in without hesitation—meeting us at the hospital for the very first time.
